The Mountain Qing Scenic Areais located in the southeast of the city. It is 20 kilometers away fromdowntown. Mountain Qing, or Mountain Qinglin is famous for its steep hillyterrain, stretches of peaks, spectacular rocks, verdant forests and crystal-clearsprings. It was said in the history that Xie Tiao, a poet in Southern QiDynasty, who served as the governor in City Xuan was so obsessed with thisbeautiful scenery that he name it “Shan Shui Du” (the collection of mountainand water). He also lived in the south of the mountain once upon a time. LiBai, the famous poet living in the Tang Dynasty, said that City Xuan was one ofthe cities that influenced him most. When he was alive, he ardently loved thescenery of Mountain Qing, and admired Xie Tiao’s righteous character as well.At one time, Li Bai had hoped to live in the Mountain Qing near Xie Tiao, sothat he could be a neighbor with Xie, though in different eras.

When Li Bai died, he waspreviously buried in the southeast of the foot Mountain Long. However, in the12th year of Yuanhe Emperor of the Tang Dynasty (AD871),the surveillance commissioner of the City Xuan, Fan Chuanzheng decided tofollow Li Bai’s last wish of being together with Mountain Qing. Therefore, heand Zhuge Zong, the county magistrate of Dangtu, decided to move the Li BaiTomb to the southwest of Mountain Qing, which is now located in Taibai XiangGujia village. The tomb, facing south, has mountains lying behind it and waterbefore it. It is 300 miles southern away from the highway. Walking along withthe small stone road beside the highways, pass throng a small stone bridge, youare coming into the Cemetery of Li Bai Tomb. On the left side of the cemetery, there is a green lotus pool and soft willows and green streams. The arched “HuaHe” Bridge stretches over the pool to the “Shi Yong” pavilion. During Li Bai’sremaining years, he wrote ten poems extolling the beautiful scenery of DangtuCounty, which is called “Gu Shu Shi Yong”. After a long time, people had builta pavilion beside the Gu Stream in order to remember him. However, it was destroyedduring the Culture Revolution.

Now, the “Shi Yong” pavilionwe see today with cornices is classical and elegant. In the center of thepavilion stands a stone tablet, which was engraved with the “Gu Shu Shi Yong”.On the left side of the pavilion, there is the Tai Bai Temple with white walland black roof. Inside the temple, green bricks were unfolded on the ground, and the main beams were craved with exquisite patterns. The temple is spaciousand bright. Written by the famous calligrapher Lin Sanzhi, the horizontal inscribedboard “Tai Bai Temple” was hung on the front door of the main hall. There is aLi Bai sculpture, 2.74 meter high and 3 ton weight, made with white marbletowering inside the hall. The sculpture is a lateral standing body of Li Bai,with sword holding in his left hand. He had impressive appearance with his eyesglittering in wisdom, and his moustache flying with the wind. The background ofthe sculpture is a large dark green woodblock, which was aimed at describing LiBai’s travel traces in Dangtu County. Over the woodblock there is a horizontalinscribed board called “Li Bai Gao Zong” written by the calligrapher Shu Tong.A plaque called “Shi Wu Di” written by the calligrapher Situ is hung in thecenter top of the hall. There are six stone tablets inset on the two sides ofthe walls: one is a vivid sculpture of the whole-length of Li Bai, one isengraved with “Lin Lu Ge” written by Li Bai. Other three of them was engravedwith inscription written by Li Hua, Liu Quanbai, and Pei Jing of Tang Dynasty respectively. One of the most important stone tablets was made during the Song Dynasty(A.D.1242).
